Meet Carlyn Maia Green
LGPC
Carlyn Maia Green is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in the state of Maryland. She obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology from Goucher College and her Master of Science in Clinical Professional Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. Carlyn is currently working towards certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Carlyn’s goal as a counselor is to create a safe and validating space for clients to learn skills and explore their emotions. Carlyn is passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ clients and guiding families in creating an affirming environment for their children. Carlyn has significant experience working with transgender and gender non-conforming youth. She is committed to providing a gender affirming and identity-centered space for her clients to participate in DBT. She also has a focus in supporting children, adolescents, and families who have experienced trauma, specializing in working with survivors of sexual violence.
Carlyn provides ongoing therapeutic care to support clients in grounding themselves by utilizing mindfulness techniques and DBT distress tolerance skills. She also is experienced in creating safety plans to cope ahead with ongoing internal or external stressors, aimed at reducing unsafe coping methods such as suicidality and self-injurious behaviors. Carlyn hopes to support her clients in increasing contentment, self-esteem, and feelings of agency over their lives.
