What is the Diagnostic Interview?

How to Prepare

Please have an accurate account of any relevant mental health or medical history. It would be helpful to have recent testing reports or records from previous providers. You will be asked to complete and sign relevant documentation prior to your appointment.

What other ways will my mental health needs be evaluated?

To develop a thorough and comprehensive diagnostic profile, additional questions will be asked. An EMH provider will likely utilize other evidence-based and well-validated assessment measures.

Benefits of a Well-Validated Assessment

The KSADS and DIAMOND are regularly updated to include the most current research findings. The questions are based off the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-5. The DSM-5 is the manual used in establishing a client's mental health diagnosis to best aide in clinical recommendations.

Utilization of a well-validated diagnostic tool helps identify symptoms and treatment targets. EMH providers can recommend the best treatment options to fit your mental health needs.

The Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Aged Children (KSADS) is the most widely used and well-validated structured clinical interview for children and adolescents.
